To perform a clean installation of Windows 11 on a computer or laptop from a bootable flash drive or disk, you'll need the following:
- A Windows 11 ISO file. You can download it from the Microsoft website.
- A USB flash drive or DVD disc with at least 8GB of space.
- A working computer with a DVD drive or a USB port to create the bootable flash drive or disk.
- A license key to activate Windows 11.
Once you have these requirements, follow the steps below to perform a clean installation of Windows 11:
- Insert the USB flash drive or DVD disc into your computer.
- Download and install a reliable tool to create a bootable USB drive or DVD disc. For example, you may use Rufus or Windows USB/DVD Download Tool (if you're using a DVD).
- Launch the tool you downloaded and select the ISO file you downloaded as the source file.
- Select the USB flash drive or DVD disc you inserted as the destination.
- Choose the partitions and file system for the USB drive or DVD disc. For example, select GPT partition scheme for UEFI or MBR for BIOS.
- Start the process and wait for it to complete.
- Once the bootable USB flash drive or DVD disc is ready, shut down the computer you want to install Windows 11 on.
- Insert the bootable USB flash drive or DVD disc.
- Power on the computer and press the BIOS key (F2, F12 or DEL) repeatedly to go to the BIOS settings.
- Change the boot order and set the USB flash drive or DVD disc as the first boot device.
- Save and exit the BIOS settings.
- The Windows 11 installer should start automatically. Select your language, time zone, and currency.
- Follow the prompts to choose your installation type, which is "Custom" for a clean installation.
- Select the hard drive or partition where you want to install Windows 11 and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Once the installation is complete, enter your license key to activate Windows 11.
