Disabling Windows Defender is not recommended as it leaves your computer vulnerable to malware and viruses. However, if you have another antivirus program installed and want to disable Windows Defender, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Settings" icon.
  2. Click on "Update & Security".
  3. Select "Windows Security" from the left-hand menu.
  4. Click on "Open Windows Security".
  5. Click on "Virus & threat protection" from the left-hand menu.
  6. Click on "Manage settings".
  7. Turn off the toggle switch for "Real-time protection".

Note: This will only temporarily disable the Real-time protection feature. The other features of Windows Defender such as periodic scanning will still be active. Windows Defender will automatically re-enable Real-time protection after a short period of time or after a system restart.

If you want to permanently disable Windows Defender, it is not recommended but can be done by editing the Windows registry. Here are the steps:

  1. Press "Win + R" to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "regedit" and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender
  4. If you don't see DisableAntiSpyware, right-click on Windows Defender and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the new value "DisableAntiSpyware".
  5. Double-click on DisableAntiSpyware and change the value data from 0 to 1.
  6. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

Note: Modifying the Windows Registry can be risky, and changing values could harm your computer. Proceed with caution and backup your registry before making any changes.
